Known for its world famous chefs, cheeses, patisseries and culture, Paris is a city definitely worth visiting. As one of the most visited cities in the world, there’s a lot to occupy your time with when you make your way through the city of light.
Where to Eat
As a city on the forefront of culinary innovation, Paris has a wealth of food options. As a major European city there are a number of traditional French restaurants but also some great new dining concepts that bring other regions together to provide a melting pot of culinary exploration.
If you’ve got one restaurant you make a special effort to dine at, I’d recommend the Polidor. Located next to Luxembourg Gardens, the Polidor is pure traditional France with a rich history being a favorite haunt of the lost generation greats, Ernest Hemmingway, James Joyce, Jack Kerouac and many others.
The beef tartare is fantastic, served in heavy portion sizes and highly recommended.
Make sure to use the restrooms as they haven’t been modernized so you get a nice surprise!
Address: 41 Rue Monsieur le Prince, 75006 Paris, France
You can’t come to France without gorging on tiny little pastries that look like they were painstakingly crafted and took hours to create. It’s almost a shame to eat them since they disappear in a fraction of the amount of time it takes to create! Angelina is a cafe and restaurant that is famous for its hot chocolate and desserts. While they have great dinner options, I’d recommend visiting here for a sweet treat.
The African Hot Chocolate, or L’Africain, is one of their most popular hot chocolates. This is a decadently rich and sweet hot chocolate that provides an immense rush of flavor immediately upon hitting the tongue. Imagine that scene from Requiem for a Dream that happens every time they shoot up. In addition to this, they also have patisserie sweets that you can choose from to compliment your sugar high.
Address: 226 rue de rivoli (there are many locations)
Paris is one of those cities that you finding yourself wishing you could return to all the time. The food, the people, the art, the culture. It’s all there in vast amounts and despite globalization and the ability to have great food nearly anywhere in the world, Paris holds a special place in many people’s hearts.
